Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Oologah-Talala Public Schools understands that technology-based learning will play an increasing important role in the learning and academic performance of our students over the course of their academic careers. As a school district, one of our core goals is to improve learning outcomes and to prepare our students to become productive citizens in the digital age.

Because technology is becoming ever more accessible, and because students are using it more frequently while at school and home, schools must continually assess and determine how best to use technology to improve academic achievement.

At OTPS, we are excited to continue this journey by permitting students to bring their own technology devices to school. We will soon implement a pilot program that will allow us to evaluate how students adhere to the guidelines and policies for use of their technology wile at school. We will also use pre-determined teachers and courses to plan for how this increased accessibility to technology will change how instruction is delivered to our students.

Information will be shared with students, parents and teachers in a variety of formats including orientations, videos, professional development sessions, and a Frequently Asked Question section on our website. These methods of communication will ensure that the types of technology, accessories, responsibilities for the pilot program, and rules of technology usage are clearly explained in order to ensure the success of the program.

Again, our goal again is to improve learning and prepare our students for future success, and we feel that the use and the benefits of theses new technologies will help all of us realize these goals.
