Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is so hard to believe that the holidays have passed and our spring semester has arrived!  What an amazing, exciting, and successful first semester of school we have had at the Upper!  It was wonderful to see all our students’ faces walking through the doors on the 7th, and we are so excited about the learning and fun activities that will take place over the next few months.  As you know, the second semester is a very busy time, especially at an elementary school!

Our students and staff have worked extremely hard in the classroom over the course of the first semester.  Your child has spent so much time in their class learning valuable grade level content in both whole groups and small groups.  They have also utilized small group rotations and Exact Path to help fill in any gaps they have had in their understanding of math, reading, and language arts.  I am so proud of the success our kids have had using this approach.  The teachers at OUE are truly going above and beyond to provide each child with an education tailored to their personal needs, while ensuring they are still mastering the skills expected for their age level.  And that’s not just my opinion!  We are in the process of gathering data regarding the amount of learning that has taken place at the upper in the fall, and I can’t wait to share that with you in the near future.  I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but I can say with all certainty that you will be very impressed with our Upper Elementary students and their teachers!  They have given such amazing effort…and it shows!

As I said above, we have many fun activities happening in January, and even more in February.  Be sure to watch the calendars we send home as well as messages from your student’s teachers with dates and upcoming events.  From assemblies, to Mother-Son date night, and many events in between, January is sure to be another busy, active month at the Upper!  Please also make special note that there is no school for students on January 21.

As always, thank you for your enthusiastic support of our students, our staff, and our school.  We are so appreciative to be in a community that is willing to partner with the school to help our kids grow and learn as much as possible!  If I can ever be of any service to you, please don’t hesitate to call or email at any time.
