News from the Principal

November 1, 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

November is here, and we are so excited for all the holiday fun that is coming up in the next few weeks!  It’s so hard to believe that we have completed one full quarter of school. We have been so busy during the last nine weeks at OUE!  All the activities in the classrooms, assemblies, Pride Check exchanges, concession stands, and many other events have kept us hopping, to say the least!  Our Literacy Night and Halloween parties were so successful. Thank you for donating the needed items and your time to help us provide such fun events for our students.  What a supportive community we are blessed with, and we appreciate our parents, guardians and volunteers more than words can say!

Through everything we’ve done, I am continually amazed at how hard everyone is working to keep learning the first priority, to ensure that our students are growing academically and socially, and to approach our school days with joy and excitement.  Our teachers are working diligently to look over the data of each child in our school on a regular basis. We are spending time examining the progress of every student, identifying the areas where they are growing academically and those where they may need additional support.  The staff of OUE truly believes in the vision of providing students with an education tailored to each individual. We know that students learn best when we meet them where they are in their learning progression. Using this approach, we are able to identify any holes in their understanding, provide them with needed support, and guide them to higher levels of achievement.  When you visit with your child, be sure to ask them about their “trophy goal”, which is the method we are using to monitor how many new, personal skills each child is mastering. It’s exciting to see how many trophies are being earned and how those trophies equate to stronger student performance in the classroom!

We have several exciting events coming up during the month of November, all of which are listed on the calendar on the back.  Please be sure to look the calendar over and let us know if you have any questions or concerns. As always, my door is always open to you and I would love the opportunity to assist you and your child in whatever way I can!

Sincerely,
