OHS Speech & Debate Team @ Owasso Tournament

The OHS Speech & Debate team returned from the Owasso tournament with a 2nd place in 5A team sweepstakes and 7 more regional qualifications!
Individual placers included:
Teagan Jones 1st Championship Humorous Interpretation, 1st 5A Public Forum Debate, Conner Claflin 1st 5A Public Forum Debate, 2nd Domestic
Extemporaneous, Lane Locken 2nd 5A Informative Speaking, Yara Lester 2nd 5A Poetry, 3rd 5A Original Oratory, 2nd 5A Foreign Extemporaneous, Griffin Long 3rd 5A Humorous Interpretation, Avery Collier 3rd Championship Program of Oral Interpretation, Avery Wright & Lane Locken 3rd Championship Dramatic Duet
In addition, the team reached a milestone by qualifying every debater on the team for the regional tournament! 7 debaters from the squad will compete in March at the OSSAA 5A regional alongside our speech and acting entries for a spot at the state tournament to be held at SNU in April. This is a feat the squad hasn’t achieved in recent memory, and one we are happy to celebrate. Debaters qualified for regionals now include Lane Locken, Kayne Phillips, Gabrielle Quinby, Samantha Ross, Teagan Jones, and Conner Claflin.
The team will take some time off before competing again at Bixby at the end of February before postseason competition begins in March.
Thanks once again to our alumni, Emily Alberty, Cale Donathan, and Kimberlee Wilson for serving as judges at the event!
