Honors Graduates Program
The Oologah-Talala Board of Education has established an academic program to allow students achieving certain goals to be considered honors graduates of Oologah-Talala High School.
Objectives
- To encourage increased student enrollment in academic subject areas;
- To broaden the scope of the student's academic knowledge;
- To recognize students who have achieved academically over and above basic requirements.
Criteria
To be considered an honors graduate, a student must meet the following criteria:
- Must achieve an overall grade point average of 3.0 ("B" average) as measured by the rank-in-class ratings.
- May have no semester grade of "D" or "F."

Must complete the following specific classes in addition to all required
subjects leading to graduation in eight consecutive semesters in grades
nine through twelve:
- Advanced composition and two of the following four classes: American Literature III, English Literature, Shakespeare, or World Literature.
- Two years of one foreign language.
- Two years of math, algebra, and geometry or above.
- Two years of science: Fundamentals of biology or chemistry and one year above.
- One of the following social studies classes: Ancient Civilizations, European Heritage, Medieval Civilization, or Modern History.
Recognition
Honors graduates will be recognized in the following ways:
- The high school diploma will have the designation "Honors Graduate" added to it.
- The high school transcript will have the designation "Honors Graduate" added to it.
- The traditional cap and gown worn by the honors graduate will have the honors cord added to it.
